Guiding Minds and Shaping the Future
💻Teaching is both a duty and a privilege.
I, as a future teacher, aim to help students comprehend the importance of content and at the same time develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I hope to inspire them traits of curiosity, flexibility, and lifelong learning. Besides that, I consider myself as guide who supports the students in their way to becoming competent leaners and be better persons.
A class is a community of students who are actively involved in their learning through their interaction with the material, each other, the teacher, and the environment. I can also use case studies, simulations, and team-based projects to help students become fully involved in learning from the material. I incorporate lectures with interactive discussions that not only encourage students' participation but also enrich their understanding. Therefore, I have students write journals to develop their reflective skills and learning independence.
Evaluation is also a major aspect. I utilize both formative and summative assessments to measure the students' development. Besides, I get to assess students' higher-order skills through their performance in projects, presentations, and written reflections, and their recall of the core knowledge through quizzes and examinations. I offer comprehensive grading criteria so students can clearly monitor progress.
I highlight the interrelation of theory and practices. Students quite often find abstract concepts difficult, hence, I resort to using familiar examples to make lessons understandable, so that they realize that the skills they acquire in the classroom help them apply the challenges of the real world.
Teaching is basically an endless process of personal development. I get feedback from students and colleagues, participate in workshops, and try different strategies to improve.
My teaching philosophy is based on three pillars: being real, having passion, and being committed to one's growth.
